UK police announced Wednesday the arrest of three additional suspects linked to an arson attack on Jewish community ambulances in north London last month.
The blaze, set on March 23, drew condemnation from Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who called it a “deeply shocking antisemitic arson attack.”
Counter-terrorism police are spearheading the probe, but officials stressed it’s not classified as terrorism at this stage.
The Metropolitan Police said the latest detainees—men aged 20, 19, and 17—were picked up at different spots in east London on suspicion of conspiracy to commit arson with intent to endanger life.
Two UK nationals in their 40s had been held earlier and released on bail.
Commander Helen Flanagan, Head of Counter Terrorism Policing London, said, “We know concern among the Jewish community remains high, but I hope these arrests show that we are doing everything we can to bring those responsible to justice.”
Investigators are pressing on to hold accountable those behind the assault on the community’s medical vehicles.
