Fact Check: Viral Video Falsely Claims FBI Director Kash Patel Dancing to Bollywood Song

A viral video circulating on social media has sparked confusion, with claims suggesting it shows Kash Patel dancing to a Bollywood song. The clip features a man enthusiastically dancing to “Sun Sahiba Sun” from the film Ram Teri Ganga Maili, while others cheer in the background.

The video gained traction after posts alleged it was taken from a hacked email account belonging to the FBI director. One widely shared post claimed, “Kash Patel in a video from his hacked email account. Embarrassing is an understatement.”

The controversy emerged alongside reports that Iran-linked hackers targeted Patel’s personal email account, allegedly releasing private photos and documents online. The group reportedly claimed responsibility for the breach, further fueling speculation.

However, verification has confirmed that the viral video does not feature Kash Patel. A reverse image search traced the clip back to a YouTube upload from March 29, 2021. The video had also surfaced in earlier reports, where it was described as a man celebrating after his wife temporarily left for her parental home.

Although the identity of the individual in the video remains unverified, multiple reports confirm that he is not the FBI director. Meanwhile, the Federal Bureau of Investigation acknowledged that Patel’s email account was targeted in a cyberattack. Officials clarified that the compromised material was “historical in nature and involves no government information.”

The incident highlights how quickly misinformation can spread online, especially when combined with real cybersecurity events, leading to false associations and viral confusion.
