Iran Declares Full Military Preparedness, Rejects US Diplomacy Claims Amid Escalating Tensions

02 April, 2026 09:38

Iran has declared its armed forces fully prepared for any scenario, including a potential U.S. ground assault, as tensions with Washington intensify. The nation’s top diplomats dismissed American overtures toward talks as insincere, citing a history of broken promises.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei, speaking to Republic TV, underscored Tehran’s vigilance. “Whenever the Americans talk about diplomacy, everyone should view it with skepticism,” he said.

Baghaei pointed to repeated U.S. policy missteps, including Washington’s 2018 exit from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action – the landmark nuclear accord – and its alleged role with Israel in prior strikes against Iran. He labeled recent U.S. attacks on Iranian soil as “barbaric” and flatly denied any current indirect talks. “At present, there are absolutely no negotiations taking place between Iran and the United States,” he clarified.

Intermediary channels, Baghaei said, have conveyed U.S. demands he called “maximalist and unreasonable.” These include an end to Iran’s civilian nuclear activities and sharp cuts to its missile defenses – conditions that, he argued, have only fueled public distrust and hardened resolve to protect Iran’s borders and independence.

In retaliation for what Tehran describes as unprovoked assaults by the U.S. and Israel, Iran has initiated Operation True Promise 4. Military sources report at least 89 waves of strikes hitting key American and Israeli sites across the Middle East.
